Summer is the perfect time to get outside and take advantage of the warmer days. It is also a great time to take care of your mental health, and since we’re all about mental health, here are some ways you can get into a healthy headspace this summer!
Get Outside!
With warmer days upon us, getting outside and being active is one way you can ensure you are helping your mental health. Taking time out of your busy day is important for your mental health. So, make sure that even though things might seem crazy busy, they still don’t take over your mind completely! Try going for a walk, jog or even a bike ride at your local park. It’s amazing how much more active you feel when you’re moving around! Don’t forget to stay hydrated!
Have a Mindful Minute Outside
Being stuck inside on sunshiny days can be a bummer. But it doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of all that vitamin D this summer. If you are feeling a little overwhelmed or down, take a minute to step away. Try walking to work or to the grocery store. Or take your lunch break outside and enjoy the warm and sunshine for a bit. Exposure to sunshine is known for increasing vitamin D and serotonin levels which boost your mood! So, get outside this summer!
Meet with Friends and Family
Summer time is all about making memories with friends. And family. Grab your best buddies and head out for some summer fun. There is so much to do! You can hike, bike, swim, or just kick back and enjoy the warmth. Whatever you choose to do with your friends and family, your mental health will thank you. There is no better way to enjoy summer.
Take a Vacation
Summer time is the perfect time to take some time off to travel. So, plan a getaway and treat yourself to a well-deserved break and try something new. The change of scenery will no doubt boost your mood and put a smile on your face.
Keep Track of Eating and Sleep Habits
Summer is a time when we are generally more energetic, and with all the social gatherings, traveling, and parties, it can be a challenge maintaining good sleep habits and a healthy diet. It is no surprise that eating processed foods and a bad sleep schedule can dampen our mood and over all mental health. Summer time is also a great time to eat some fruits and veggies that are in season and the best way to add some good nutrients to your diet. So, when you are having a blast this summer, don’t forget to get at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep and keep up a healthy balanced diet.
