How do I become a PsyMood Specialist?

At PsyMood, we are looking for professionals who share our vision of assisting individuals in improving their mental health, including minorities and immigrants who are still establishing themselves in a new environment and country. For information, Join us!

How do I communicate with my client?

All the sessions, scheduling, and payment happen inside the platform. There is no need in downloading an additional app to your device. The platform is mobile-friendly and browser-friendly!  

We will provide you with a secure video conference tool for the online sessions. 

Note: All sessions must be performed within the platform for your and your client’s safety. For more details, read our Privacy Policy and  Term of Service (under the specialist tab).

Who is responsible for the invoice and payment for sessions?

All the sessions, scheduling, and payment happen inside the platform. The invoice is created and completed by you. As the specialist, you are responsible for making sure all the information is correct and sending the invoice, as an attachment, to your patient after the session through the message tool.

Will I have a public profile on PsyMood? And, how do I update?

Yes, when you join our PsyMood Specialist team you will receive your own unique public profile. Your public profile will consist of your photo, name, language spoken, specialization, designation, education, bio, and pricing. As well as two buttons at the bottom for the patients to book either a free 15 min session or an appointment with you. Once your profile is activated, clients will be able to access your profile or be matched with you. You will receive an email when a client schedules with you. You are responsible for all the information that is written on your profile.

How will PsyMood promote my services?

Every week PsyMood publishes articles with ‘Tips of The Week’ on our blog ‘Voices’, through short videos on our Youtube Channel, posts on our social media channels, and our podcast, “PsyMood Series”. If you would like to join or contribute to any topics, please contact carolyn@psymood.com. Once approved you will be highlighted across all those platforms.

Do I have to accept all patients that are matched with me?

No. You can have the option to decline any patients that are matched with you. But you should provide an explanation of your reasons.

What information will I receive about new patients?

Once you are matched with a patient, you will receive the patient’s name, date/time, and location of the appointment.

How do you find clients (or patients)?

Every week PsyMood publishes articles with Tips of The Week on our blog Voices, through short videos on our Youtube Channel, and with posts on our social media channels to improve people’s well-being. PsyMood recently added a podcast, “PsyMood Series”, which will drive more clients for our specialists.  PsyMood also has over 12 business partners that will direct our services to their clients. 

Can anyone see our messages on the Messenger platform?

No, the messages between specialist and client are private. You and your client have a chat tool in the platform to communicate, ask questions, send invoices, and other documents to enhance your services. You should not share phone numbers or any other form of contact, since your relationship with the client is inside the platform.

Does the calendar adjust to different time zones?

Yes, no matter where you or your patients live, the timezone will adjust correctly to the user’s location. No need for any guesswork and time adjustments when booking appointments.

How will I be compensated? How many days to receive the payment?

Session Payment: You will receive the payment in 10 business days after your first session. It may take longer if you live outside Canada. We are committed to improving our financial integrations to accommodate every specialist’s needs.

As a specialist, do I have to pay the monthly fee if I have no clients during the month?

No, the charge will be waived. Furthermore, if you make less than $100 per month your fee will also be waived.

Can a PsyMood patient become my patient for my own private practice?

During the term of this Agreement and for a period of 6 months after the termination of this Agreement, you shall not directly or indirectly solicit or contact (or attempt to solicit or contact) any Client to whom you provided Wellness Services through the Platform to provide Wellness Services (or similar professional services) to such Client.

Do you provide liability insurance or do we use our own?

You are required to maintain appropriate insurance coverage (or functionally equivalent coverage) to conduct your practice and provide the Wellness Services to each Client and to use the Services and the Platform. You acknowledge that PsyMood does not maintain insurance coverage to cover the provision of health care or counselling/psychotherapy services to Clients.

Are PsyMood sessions covered by health insurance?

PsyMood provides service to our clients globally and has specialists in 17 countries. Each insurance policy is different, we advise you to check the specific details with your insurance provider. We have a variety of licensed specialists such as Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Music Therapists, and Coaches.   

Here are a few steps for the patient to follow for reimbursement:

  1. Contact the insurance provider. Ask them:
  • What type of specialists are covered?
  • If they cover the specialists nationwide and worldwide?
  • Where can you find the forms to ask for reimbursement?
  1. Once they have this information, they can narrow down your search by using our specialist filter, by searching under specialty.
  1. Use the free 15-minute intake session. During their free session, they can ask about the reimbursement with the potential specialist and see if they meet their needs.

How does PsyMood protect my privacy?

At PsyMood, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting you through our compliance with this privacy policy. This means PsyMood does not transfer, distribute, disclose, rent or sell any of Your Personal Information to third parties except as provided for in this Privacy Policy or as specifically consented by you.

PsyMood has developed policies and procedures consistent with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”), the Personal Health Information Act (“PHIPA”), and other relevant privacy laws.

What is PsyMood?

Here at PsyMood, we believe finding a specialist to help with your mental health should be tailored around who you are as a person.  Our platform matches specialists and clients, based on cultural background and languages,  who will understand you and how you are feeling.

How much does PsyMood cost?

PsyMood is a pay-per-service. The range is $25 – $325 CDN. We have a variety of licensed specialists such as Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Music Therapists, and Coaches.

How does the free 15-minute Intake session work?

You can choose to meet with any specialist for an intake session to see if they meet your needs. If you aren’t sure if that specialist is right for you, you can book another 15-minute intake session with a different specialist until you have found the best match!

Each client can only have one 15-minute free intake session per specialist. Each client has up to three free 15-minute sessions, with different specialists.

*TIP: If you have insurance and would like to reimburse the session this will be a great topic to bring up. For more information about insurance reimbursement’ read “Are PsyMood’s sessions covered by health insurance?”.

Is there a limit use for the free 15-minute Intake sessions?

Yes. Each client can only have one 15-minute free intake session per specialist. Each client has up to three free 15-minute sessions, with different specialists.

Can I book a session on the same day (within 24 hours)?

No.  All sessions require 24 hours advance notice to confirm an appointment with you. If this is an emergency, please call 911 (or your local emergency number), or go to your local hospital for assistance.

Does PsyMood have an app?

No. All the sessions, scheduling, and payment happen inside the platform. There is no need in downloading an additional app to your device. The platform is mobile-friendly and browser-friendly!

Does PsyMood provide family, group and couples counselling?

Yes. We have a variety of licensed specialists such as Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Music Therapists, and Coaches. You can narrow down your search by using our specialist filter. The specialist cost may differ depending on the size of the group in counselling.

Does PsyMood provide life coaching?

Yes. Our qualified life coaches can help you clarify your goals, identify the obstacles holding you back, and then come up with strategies for overcoming each obstacle.

Where is patient health information and data stored?

PsyMood does not store any patient’s personal health information on our platform. The specialists will make every effort to keep your Personal Health Information private. For more details, read our Client Term of Service.
