July is National Minority Health Awareness Month, which strives to bring awareness to the struggles that minority communities face in regard to mental health. This upcoming weekend is Toronto’s Caribbean Carnival where we celebrate the freedom and culture of Caribbean communities.
After two long years of cancellations due to Covid-19, Toronto Caribbean Carnival is back and ready to see Torontonians back out #OnDeRoadAgain! This year marks 55 years of celebrating the Grande Parade, which was gifted to Canada by the Caribbean Community. During the parade we see the Caribbean tradition of parading on the road in celebration of the freedom and emancipation from slavery. Every year the Toronto Caribbean Carnival is celebrated on what is known as Emancipation Day weekend in Canada.
If you are looking for something to do this weekend grab your #famalay and take a trip down to Exhibition Place on Saturday July 30th, 2022, to view the Grande Parade. Watch as masqueraders take to the road preforming all day! Immerse yourself in Caribbean culture as you enjoy live performances, food, and drinks! Who knows, you may even spot some soca artists out and about. Remember to stay safe and respect the rules of the road if you head down to the Grande Parade.
